Update 1 field in all records in view

Postby greyman56 » Sat Mar 06, 2010 4:24 am

Hi,

Anyone know if I can set the value of 1 field for all records appearing in the current view to a certain value?

Cheers

Just realised I should give more information about why I want to do this in case someone can come up with a solution.

I export records in a timesheet to csv file based on records in the current view. I want to have a "exported" field that is set to "on" once I export the records. I will have a view that selects records based on exported=off (and another field). All new records will default to exported=off.

Therefore, once I export the records, I would then do some step to set the exported field=on, and the records should disappear from view.

Can this be done?

BTW, the export is for import into an accounting system (MYOB) for invoicing purposes.

I created a small sample database and tested with your requirements.

Three fields: Name, Date, Exported (On or Off value).
Filtered on date (range).
Clicked on Exported field name in list view.
Entered "On" for "Set Value to".
All records in the specified date range were set to "On".
Other records not in date range were left unaltered.

Looks like a perfect and concise answer to me!

Hey thanks a million. That is just what I needed. It has been so long since I clicked on a column header, I had forgotten about the "Set Value To".
