Import into New Database? (Mac Desktop 4.25)

Postby martimer » Thu Jul 09, 2009 11:27 am

I am trying to create a new database by importing a small 26 item database (with a whopping 6 fields) and HanDBase Mac Desktop 4.25 does not seem up to the task. I can select the file but no database seems to be created. I have tried both .txt (tab delimited) and .csv files.

What am I missing? Where does the new database go when the Import button is pressed? No file is appearing in a search for new files and it certainly dos not appear in the list of databases.

Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble. Here's the process for importing a CSV file on Mac.

Choose File, Import, into new database, from csv file.
You're then given a screen where you can choose the file to import, the name for the database and whether the first line has field names.
Pressing import pops up a save dialog, it's here where YOU choose where the database goes. Save it where ever you'd like, eg, Documents folder.
Pressing the save button provides you with the imported file, which is immediately opened after the import.

From your description, you didn't mention the program prompting you to save the file, did it?

I have the same problem with the HanDBase 4.25 MAC Desktop version. The program does NOT prompt a "SAVE FILE" window after pressing "IMPORT". The window just closes and nothing happens. There must be a bug fix for this?

This is not happening for me. Can either of you send me a sample csv file that gives you this problem? I can then try that specific file and see what occurs.
