I just purchased an iphone, 3gs and bought the HB app and installed it on the iphone. I also purchased the mac desktop plus and have successfully synced the iphone and my MBP. How do I get my DB's in the BB platform (v.4.x professional) in windows (running xp Pro in fusion on the MBP) over to the mac side and then onto the iphone?

Thanks,
Bill

Hi there!

Thanks for your posting. This is basically a two step process- making sure you've synced the latest data from your BlackBerry and then installing them to your iPhone HanDBase. In your case, as VMWare fusion is running on the mac- a 3rd step is in between, which is getting the database files from VMWare to your Mac folders.

That said, here goes:

Part I- syncing your BlackBerry to your desktop (running under VMWare fusion)
1. Launch the HanDBase Desktop for Windows
2. Choose Configure, BlackBerry users.
3. Select Sync and perform a synchronization to get the database files backed up from your BlackBerry.

Part II- transferring these files from the virtual windows partition to your Mac folders:
This is from the Fusion Help
Sharing Files Between Virtual Machines and Your Mac

In the Sharing panel of a virtual machine's Settings window, you can select shared folders on your Mac to make available to the virtual machine. With shared folders, you can easily share files between virtual machines and your Mac. This feature requires VMware Tools.

Adding a Shared Folder
1. Choose Virtual Machine > Settings or click the Settings button in the toolbar to open the virtual machine Settings window.
2. In the Settings window, in the System Settings section, select Sharing.
3. Select Share folders on your Mac.
4. Click the add (+) button at the bottom of the display box.
5. In the Finder sheet, find the location of the folder you want shared, choose it and click Open.
6. In the Permissions field, select Read & Write or Read Only.

Now browse to My Documents\HanDBase\username - you should find the databases you desire to install here with the name DatabaseName.PDB. Copy these to the shared folder and they should now be visible in Finder on the Mac side.

Part III- Installing the PDB files to your iPhone:
1. You will need to get Wifi running on the iPhone, and connect to the same router as your Mac so they can talk to each other.
2. Now launch HanDBase and while in the Choose Database screen, choose the bottom right icon (Desktop Connect)
3. This should show you the IP address to enter in on your Mac. Launch Safari (or Firefox) and type in that address exactly and hit enter/return.
4. You should now see a web page on your Mac that shows the databases you have installed. Along the right is a Install PDB file box, and here you can browse to your shared folder from Part II above and choose the first database in the series.
5. Click Upload and the database will be installed to your iPhone.
6. Repeat 4 and 5 for each database you wish to install.

Hope this helps- feel free to follow up with any questions!
