Hi Tom,

Thanks for your post. I am looking at the list of products you have purchased from us and I don't see the HanDBase Plus, Pro, or Enterprise versions for Android in there. Looks like you had it for some other platforms before, but not for Android. If you've read the registered users' newsletter from this month, now is the best time to purchase that at a huge discount!

Worked with Samsung Galaxy S running android 2.3.5 and desktop using Windows 7 Professional.
Did not work with Windows XP as WebDAV will not set up with Windows XP

It was a bit of stubborn exercise to get my Nexus 7 syncing, but eventually it did.
It was initially difficult to establish the drive mapping operation. I could not detect my device on the network until after I went to the router's DHCP reservation list, and ensure that my Nexus 7 was assigned the same IP address each time it connected. The Nexus 7 however did not get reassigned a different IP address at any time during the set up, so this may have been coincidence.

After successfully mapping the device, it would keep deleting all the databases from the computer during the sync. But that too was resolved after ensuring that the Nexus 7's Handbase directory was cleared, and the computer's populated.

I still suspect that the best way to do this would be via Dropbox or similar. On the computer, I thought it would be ideal to set up a custom partner, using a "HandBase" directory in the dropbox file area using a "desktop only" sync method.
And if the Android application could be configured to open databases from the folder ( a setting maybe ) where Android's Dropbox HandBase directory, then syncing would happen after either Computer or Android Dropbox registered a file change.

Purchased, downloaded and installed the Pro add-on for Android. Set up user and process completed (after a failure due to the device program not being 'closed'. Made a change to one database on the desktop and to a different one on the device (Galaxy SIII). Ran the sync process, databases did not update. Check sync settings and all databases are set to sync. Tried again, goes through the process but still no sync.

Hi,

Thanks for your post and confirmation. As mentioned in the email newsletter, this is just a temporary workaround while we are developing the cloud based syncing solution, which is similar to what you described though much more elaborate in breadth. There may also be another more permanent solution similar to this one but easier to use, that doesn't involve cloud syncing as not everyone is comfortable having their data in the cloud!

Hi;

Using ICS on Motorola photon Q 4G LTE--got it to work finally. I was trying to use the WiFi option in the Setup New Android User. When I selected external memory card it found the device.

Thanks!

Hi crb,

Thanks for chiming in- not sure if you are aware but this workaround is no longer needed as we posted a new version with the build in wifi sync. You sync a different way than you do with the Webdav solution but no additional software is required!

Please take a look at the new version on Google Play..

I had an issue with this using a Samsung Galaxy S3 and Windows 7. I'm not sure if it's specific to this sync setup or the general sync process though. I exported a database from my phone. I added data to existing records , then added new fields to the database before continuing to add new info to existing records. Then I set up the WebDAV URL on my phone and synced from the desktop. The existing records did not get updated, and there were new records added with garbage data. The new fields I had added did not exist. Then, I deleted the entire database from the phone and synced again - to see if the difference in fields was the issue. When I did that it restored the old database content. The fields I had added and the new data did not exist. That really confused me.

One thing I haven't tried yet is updating the phone database to have the same fields as were added to the desktop, then try the sync. That may be the trick, but it would be a big hassle since I also have a tablet I want to sync this to.

** I seem to have fixed the issue. I tried modifying the DB on the phone, as I said, but that did not work. Then I noticed that I did not have any DB in the Sync dialog's shared list. I added my DB's there and everything worked on both my Samsung Galaxy s3 and Nexus 7. I have not synced from the desktop for some time, and never from this machine, so I must have missed that necessary step. It would be helpful to add that to the list in the first post of this thread for others (or those like me with a short memory). Thanks again for your efforts in maintaining HanDBase.

FYI - You no longer need WebDav to sync HanDBase wirelessly. Check out this thread on the new version instructions.

Have a good day

I am not a DDHSoftware employee, just a long time HanDBase user.... from Palm to Windows Mobile to Android, to iOS. Thanks to DDH, the database files transferred to each platform without a problem.

Just bought Samsung Galaxy SIII. I could not get it to sync via USB, it kept saying HanDBase was not detected on any connected SD card. However, after downloading the new version, wireless sync worked flawlessly so perhaps it doesn't matter that I can't sync via USB.
