Quick Forms Question.

Postby jaskier2 » Wed May 28, 2014 10:59 am

Hello All,

Quick question about forms on Android.

If I develop a form on my device where I have purchased the forms in-app purchase. Can I share this form with other Android users who did not purchase the forms? Will they be able to use the form?

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

The form will display for them and they will be able to enter data into it, but they will not be able to modify the layout of the form or create their own.

For that, they would need to purchase a copy of the forms designer.

Ok, follow up question. How would I share the form? I am using a Nexus 7. I have tried sharing the form and database with myself, after deleting the database then adding the .pdb and .hdf_pdb to handbase via e-mail.

Is there a sound way to share the database and the form between users?

Thanks.

For me, I find the easiest way is to use a third party File Manager/Cloud storage to copy the Forms file from one device to the other.

You find the Forms file in the HanDBase directory, in the Forms subdirectory. Just place the forms file into that Forms subdirectory of the new device.

I use Box as my intermediate storage area when copying the forms file across devices.

I tried doing that exact thing today and it did not work. I attached some screenshots of the directory I used and it still did not work. Am I in the right directory?

Hi I do this Quite often without a problem
And looking at the screen shot it looks like the form for ProcedureRecord.PDB is not in the forms subdirectry
I am assuming that it is the DB you are wanting to share
If you look at the second screen shot there is a folder called Forms
Within this folder is where the ProcedureRecord_HDF.PDB (Form) should be located
Note. The DBs will have .PDB after the name, and the Forms will have HDF.PDB after them
Hope this helps

What Gab-hop said.

You need to use that third party file manager to move the "ProcedureRecord_HDF.PDB" file to the "Forms" subdirectory. HanDBase won't find it where it currently is.

Note that this is unique to Android. On a Windows system for example, the file would be located correctly.

Thanks for the answers guys. I figured it out. I had a mismatched file name. I deleted all of the wrong named pdb's and loaded the correctly named files from an e-mail and it worked without having to manually move them.
