Time Selection

Would it be possible to have a time selector like the palm version? I think the screen is large enough to display the table and a lot quicker to select a time (especially the minutes) I think the wheel is a great visual idea but becomes tedious if there are too many options.

I agree regarding the wheel selector- I've felt that since the beginning of the iPhone. Not practical.

That said, most people seem to like it and have not had any requests for a different time entry, so I'm not planning on breaking the iPhone interface standard unless we hear from a bunch more people asking for this!

Or would it be possible to user-change the default year date? "1904" to say, "2000" is a lot of finger flicking…

Also, thanks for the "classic" option and font choice. After 'jail-breaking' my Touch so I can use a bluetooth keyboard for text input, I am ready to abandon my Palm as my primary device. Keep up the great work!

Thanks Jan, glad you like it.

Indeed I can make that change fairly easily in a future version. What I do is tap Today before then selecting my date, it's a single tap but far easier than scrolling from 1904 to the present!

How about as a compromise simulate the palm screen with more wheels? 1 for the hours and 2 for the minutes

We use an Apple provided time selector wheel there so don't have that level of control. There is a custom wheel selector where something like you said can be done, and it seems easy in theory until you realize there are about 40 different regions that have to be accounted for with different wheel settings. And they add a few new regions every OS update, so there is a good reason to use the standardized controls that Apple provides.

If you live in a different region of the world, you may see 24 hour format or slightly different time formats! That's what is different, and I'd have to decode every region and create the proper time selector for that region.

I will have to bow to your knowledge on the subject and accept it as another compromise to the iPhone format. But I will change my field format to a decimal, purely to make my time selection bearable.
