Discussion of the version of HanDBase that runs on the iPhone and iPod touch devices. This includes the synchronization conduits as well.

Transfer .PDB files via USB Cable

It there a way to transfer .PDB files between the desktop and the iPhone with the USB cable and not WiFI. We don't have WiFi at work and I need to transfer the files back and forth. We have Windows XP desktops.

Hi there,

This one has been covered many time here in the forums. You could search for the word cable and probably find a slew of hits. To summarize- no application other than Apple's iTunes can use the cable for syncing. For a while, developers were cheating and putting their files in a media folder that iTunes synced to the desktop, but Apple cracked down and disallowed those applications. So everything has to be done via Wifi or some other mechanism. You don't need wifi to use the wifi sync though- as long as your laptop has a wifi card in it, you can connect directly from your laptop to the iPhone itself in a mode called Ad Hoc. The HanDBase for iPhone documentation covers this in great detail so give that a try and let us know.

Looking ahead, there is a possibility that Apple may open up a shared folder for each application to sync files over the cable sync. Waiting to hear if this rumor turns out to be true!
