Upgrade to V4 Windows Moble PC

Postby sportsdocjjf » Fri Feb 25, 2011 12:47 am

Hello I finally upgraded to HanDBase Professional for Windows Mobile Classic/Professional (Pocket PC)
Latest Release Version: 4.1.5 Build R1, I have installed the upgrade to both the desktop and my handheld(HP iPAQ); I need assistance syncing. The correct data is now on the desktop. How do I get it onto my handheld.

Part 2... I would like all furture syncs to go from the handhled to the desktop as I will be entering data onto the handheld and syncing to the desktop.

Thanks Joanne

Hi Joanne,

Thanks for writing. I think we are working on this via email, but I'll offer some advice here as well:

1. First, after you have installed HanDBase 4 to your Windows Mobile device, you should now see that there is a new folder in My Documents called "HanDBase". This is where your HanDBase 4 databases will go.

2. Since you have the databases in HanDBase Desktop 4, I'd simply queue them for installation on the next sync. To do this, open each database one at a time and complete the following steps:

- Select File -> Install..
- Choose your Windows Mobile partnership
- Click OK
- Close the database

After doing this for each database, sync. It should copy them to the handheld, placing them in the \My Documents\HanDBase\ folder.

3. One other thing I forgot to ask via email: Do you still have HanDBase 3 installed? If so, and the changes are not syncing it may be that the HanDBase 3 conduit is causing some "confusion". Uninstall HanDBase 3 via the Add/Remove Control Panel if it is still installed, add a record to a different database on the handheld and the desktop, and sync. Afterwards, check to see if the data exchanged properly.

Otherwise, if it didn't sync, go ahead with sending me the hdbdbg.log file as requested via email.
Kind Regards,
