I'm new to the forum and to HanDBase, and I wondered if the software is able to capture GPS data? I am using a TDS NOMAD 800L with built in GPS running Windows Mobile 6. The software I am using now allows capture, but does not hvae a friendly form builder. How about HandDBase?

Hi there,

Pardon me for moving your message to the appropriate topic.

I wanted to know what type of GPS data you were looking for? A few months ago I worked on an External field plugin for retrieiving long and lat values into a field. The project was done for a private party but I can see about making it a publicly available solution for you if that is of interest. The worst part about GPS data on Windows Mobile is using their GPS APIs which require some complicated setup to remap com ports of the GPS to a virtual com port that many applications can access at the same time. Thus, while difficult to configure initially it did work fairly well in the end.

Let me know exactly what format you'd like the data captured!

We collect lat, long data in decimal format (hd.dddddd). We use the NAD83 datum, State Plane Ohio North. Our current software specifies com 2 for the GPS receiver. Do you need additional information?

That helps, thanks. I don't have anything to release at this point, but I'm going to look into the code we have and discuss with the customer we wrote the plugin for to see what we can do to release this to customers as a free plugin. Will update this thread when I know more..

Hello,

I'd be very interested :D in that plugin and I'd even pay for. What's status?
Thx

Good question- I never heard back from the person. I will try once more and move forward without, if not!

I am actually playing with this a little next week. It may be quite easy to finish this up, or may not- I'll let you know once I dig into it!
