csv export compatibility.

Postby dechico » Fri Mar 13, 2015 9:43 am

I want to notify that I have got two problems.
-- When I check the option <Place Quote arounfd each Field> and the other option <Create First line with Field Names> then the first line doesn't have Quote around. As a result my csv file is refused by the importing application (Flashcard Buddy for android).

-- Because the name of the extension is < .CSV> instead of < .csv> it is not selected as file that can be imported.
I think that would be more a work to do on the Flashcard Buddy side.
But what is the most common: < .CSV> or < .csv>?

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

Regarding the first row not having quotes, this is the norm for CSV export routines, to the best of my knowledge. For example, if you use Excel to save a spreadsheet as a CSV file, it will have the first row of field names not have quotes, while the text data will have quotes.

Regarding the extension, it should make no difference whether the extension is .CSV or .csv.

Have you tried changing the extension manually from .CSV to .csv to see if the Flashcard Buddy app then recognizes the file?
Kind Regards,
