I am going to iPod Touch but have a friend with a Palm E2. Did I hear right on the forum that Palm is moving away from that format?

Yes, Palm E2s and the like have been discontinued for a few months. They have an all new OS called Web OS, which many are excited about as it's finally caught up and in some ways overshot the iPhone's OS in terms of capabilities. But in the process it's not compatible with existing applications for Palm OS. The program called Classic is available to let you run the Palm OS programs (like HanDBase) the new device, however. It's available here:
