Search for specific record using a form

Postby sevenrhinos » Wed Jun 10, 2009 3:15 pm

I'm have a need to search a field for a specific record using a form. When I find the record it I would like to jump to that record of a new form where I can edit the record. I am new to DDHsoftware and am trying it to see if this will work for me. Anyone know how to do this? I don't want to use the search in the default view as this defeats my purpose in not having to see the entire database.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

There is not currently a facility to do this, generally speaking. The list view is currently the only place where searches can be initiated with one exception- db popups. When you click to follow a db popup, the current value of the db popup field is searched in the list view of the other database. So I have seen a form created that acted as a somewhat front-end to searching. In reality, this is not usually useful for many cases.

Writing replacements for searching, list view, etc are not currently possible, but something on the drawing board for a future major update.

Hope this helps!
