API for creating a template/Applet/PDB?

This forum is for application developers who are integrating HanDBase into their solutions via the HanDBase API (HAPI) or other means. It's also a great place to discuss runtime development.

API for creating a template/Applet/PDB?

Postby omeldahl » Thu Nov 03, 2011 2:36 pm

Disclaimer: I'm not a user so I might get the terminology wrong...

Is it possible to use an API or file format to generate templates/Applets/PDB from external sources?

We have a environmental database management tool that allows for users to define their own datamodels. I'd like to give them the opportunity to export definitions of subsections of the model so that the user can do offline/remote datacollection using Handbase? I'd like to be able to support field names, datatypes and valid values if possible.

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for writing. While we don't have an API for creating HanDBase databases, if the users could export the data from their original sources into CSV format, HanDBase databases could be generated using the File -> Import menu option in HanDBase Desktop.
Kind Regards,
