Description:A surprisingly easy and effective bill paying applet. All data can be entered, edited, and retrieved in a 2-page form. In addition to the fields you normally find in a database of this kind -- name, description, amount, and due date, you can also record the usual amount you pay, your normal due date, the frequency of the bill, what grace period is allowed, any interest charged, and, if so, at what rate, the date you paid the bill, the form of payment, any notes you care to make, and even your account number. Moreover, an alarm -- day and time -- may be set as a reminder (snooze is set for 1 day). The database may be sorted and filtered on any field, and is fully editable. You can duplicate each record for easy entry the next time you need to pay, and thus create a complete record of your payments -- to whom, when, and how paid. If you want, you can set a password and encrypt the data. You are given 6 sample records and 12 views to start you off.

Hints:

  1. Do not confuse "Previous" and "Next" with the tabs "p.1" and "p.2." The tabs are used to navigate within a single record while "Previous" and "Next" take you from record to record.
  2. Click on "Copy to New" to create new records to use the next time you pay each bill. This eliminates a great deal of data copying.

Bill paying is never an enjoyable process, but I hope this applet makes it easier.

Has Data:No
Has Forms:Yes
Filters:[Views] To be paid, Paid, Paid in 2004, Paid in 2005, Paid in 2006, Paid by Chargecard, Paid by Check, and 4 other sample filters to give you ideas for your own.
Sorting:Yes
Reports:No
Comments:Due to a friendly suggestion, I have added a Running Total field to the List View(only -- it would be impractical for the forms); hence v. 1.2.

Notice: This applet has been formatted for the Palm. Pocket PC users should use Bills, v.2.7. The files are identical except for the design.
Disclaimer: The information given in the sample records is fictional -- well, mostly fictional. ;)
