HanDbase can exchange actual data with MS Access, but does not
exchange structures such as relationhips or forms. HanDBase Data Exchange can import tables of data
from Access to new or existing HanDBase databases. You can then use different relationships
or features within HanDbase to re-create some of the functionality you
have in this Access database. HanDBase Sync Exchange can also create a new HanDBase database from
an existing MS Access table. This would also work only with the data, not the structures, in the
Access tables.
If you were to export your MS Access tables to text files, the data in the text file is the
actual data in those tables. That is the data that HanDBase can interact with in Sync Exchange and
Data Exchange.
A HanDBase database does not contain separate tables within it. A table in Access would
correspond to a separate database in HanDBase.
If you have HanDBase Forms, you can create custom forms for each HanDBase database. HanDBase
Forms comes with HanDBase Professional and Enterprise.
You can use the Relationship
field in HanDBase to create a one-to-one or one-to-many relationship between HanDBase databases.
You can also use Link-Linked fields for one-to-many relationships in HanDBase, but the Relationship
field more closely corresponds to MS Access relationships.
The DB Popup field type in HanDBase is similar to a lookup in MS Access using a combo box.
HanDBase does not have a built-in reporting function. For the Palm, you may want to look at a
third party product called Pocket Report,
which can get data from HanDbase and run different kinds of reports on
that data. We can't provide any direct support for Pocket Report itself, but
you can find the product at www.pocketreport.com.
