Crash for big DB-Files

Hey there,

I thought about buying HanDBase to have access to a database for coeliagic disease - I wanted to open it on my S60 device with the demo version; the database file is 5.6 Megabyte and is stored on my SD card - opening smaller DBs works fine, but a DB of this size crashes the tool.. Is it possible to open up such a big file anyway?

Best regards,
Tobi

Hi Tobi,

Thanks for writing. While it should be technically possible- HanDBase supports databases up to 65,000 records, it seems that on Android our program runs out of memory when the file gets too large. I'd like to say we will have a fix for it, but I am not sure it's a problem we can fix on our end- the OS needs to supply more memory to each running application!

I typically suggest that you break up larger databases into smaller ones that the OS can handle. Sorry!

Oh okay - funny thing is that the Office suite being installed on the phone has no problems with the Excel extract of the database - it takes some time to open, but works very well..

Well, I thought about buying this software, but it seems it's no use to me if it cannot open that database or if I have to split it up...
