synch under virtual machiine (VM)

Postby bh04 » Fri Oct 18, 2019 6:37 pm

I am running a virtual machine VMWare Workstation Pro 15 on a win 10 host. The VM is running a copied version of my old laptop where I previously synched to my Samsung S8 Android. When I use the home lan under the VM, which uses the host wireless connection, I can't get the android and desktop to synch. I had a problem where the handbase files were stored under a shared drive from the host. Other programs were able to see this shared drive but not Handbase. So I moved the files to the C drive on the VM which can now be opened and these files are the ones in the edit synch settings.
When I synch the IP addresses are entered on the desktop from the android synch screen. I then get a long pause and error that no synch occurred. I get to error messages in the error log.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Here is a link to the user guide to VMware Workstation Pro
https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-Works ... -guide.pdf

Look at page 51-52

VMware using NAT as default, which HanDBase desktop connect cannot use for syncing. You must use the bridged network setting to allow the vm to access the home LAN directly. HanDBase desktop and HanDBase mobile must be on the same network (the first three sets must be the same on the Desktop and mobile devices).
Have a good day

I am not a DDHSoftware employee, just a long time HanDBase user.... from Palm to Windows Mobile to Android, to iOS. Thanks to DDH, the database files transferred to each platform without a problem.
