Problem with field of type: Float

Postby boergej » Sat Mar 13, 2010 6:02 am

Hi.

I have a registered version of Handbase 4 for Symbian S60 5th. edition. I use it on my Samsung i8910 Omnia HD. Dekstop version is installed on a PC with Windows Vista 32 Bit.
Preferences for Numeric Format are set to: Comma Separates Float Values.

I have a problem with fields set to float. When having a value >=1000 in a floating point field the calculations goes wrong in calculated fields. If the value in a float filed is less than 1000 the accumulated value in calculated fields are OK.

Example:
Value 1: 1.000
Value 2: +1.000
Value 3: +1.000
The result should be 3.000 but is only 3.

If I have 3 values less than 1000
Example:
Value 1: 800
Value 2: +800
Value 3: +800
The result should be 2.400 and it is!

So, at the moment I can only use integer values in calculations.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any advise is much appreciated. Maybe it's a bug?

I've done some testing and I'm not seeing the same results you are. I'm seeing what I would expect to see where 1.000+1.000+1.000=3.000 and 800.000+800.000+800.000=2400.000 and 0.800+0.800+0.800=2.400

Now it's possible I don't have the calculated field set up the exact same way as you do. I also created the database in the HanDBase Desktop and copied it to the device. Based on our records it does appear that you downloaded the software from our website so you should have the latest version, which is what I tested with. Please make sure that in the About screen it shows version 4.1.3. You'll also want to verify that the Result Format for your Calculated field is set to 3 Decimal Places, as opposed to Integer.

If you continue to have problems with the latest version please let me know if you created this in the HanDBase Desktop or on your device. Then, if possible, please send a copy of the database to support[at]ddhsoftware[dot]com attn David Devaney, Jr. Reference this posting. I can then test with your actual database to see if there is indeed a bug.
